PORT DESCRIPTION
Location: Eleusis is located on the Saronikos Gulf towards
the SE of the mainland, 24km from Piraeus.
General overview: The port accommodates vessels with up to
3.6m draft for entering the old port. E of the old port at a
distance of approx 300m there is a quay 300m length and 80m
width. For the first 145m of the quay, vessels with up to
7.3m draft can be berthed and for the remainder vessels of
10m draft can berth. Distance between the old and new
harbours is 345m, depth 7.3m.
Exports include cement, oil-based paints, soap, wine, resin
and olive oil. Imports consist of general goods.
Load Line zone: Summer.
NAVIGATION INFORMATION
Port limits: The port of Eleusis lies N of a line drawn:
From the E head of Kolpos Elevsinas (38°01'N 023°36'E) WSW
to Akra Petra Kaloyirou (38°00'N 023°31'E) then WSW through
the N part of Nisos Salamina to Akra Karas
(37°57'N 023°25'E) then SSW to Nisis Kanakia
(37°54'N 023°24'E) then NW to the head of Kolpos Megaron
(37°58'N 023°15'E).
Pilot: Compulsory. Vessels bound to E take a pilot at the
station in Piraeus roads. Passage between Perama and Salamis
Strait is normally prohibited (military zone).
Anchorages: Anchorage may be obtained off Eleusis in depths
from 12-20m, mud.
A recommended berth in a depth of 13m is with the head of
the pier bearing 097° distant 0.2nm.
Eleusis Bauxite Mines SA own an anchorage with buoys for
loading.
Tidal range and flow: Nil.
Dock density: 1025.
Weather: Prevailing winds: W'ly.
Principal navigation aids: Ormos Tourkolimano Light (white
hexagonal concrete building with column and gallery, red
band) (38°02.0'N 023°30.6'E), exhibited at the head of No 2
Jetty.
Charts: BA 1513, 1598. Admiralty Pilot NP48.
Restrictions: Passage is only permitted during daylight.
Tugs: Compulsory for vessels 120m length (day) and 75m
length (night) for passing Salamis Strait, a military zone.
BERTH AND CARGO
Names/Nos: General cargo/Bulk berths: Bulk ore berth, length
180m, width 15m, with depth alongside of 9.1m, operated by
Chaligourgiki SA. Equipped with 4 x 10t cranes.

The Mobil Oil pier is situated at Skaramanga in position
38°01.21'N 023°35.35'E, opposite Koumoundourou Lake, and
the Petrogas Liquefied Gas Terminal is situated 6km E of the
main port.
Facilities: The 640m length quay wall is equipped with 1 x
40t and 2 x 15t cranes. The 200m length transversal jetty is
equipped with a 15t crane. One shipbuilding berth for
vessels up to 150,000t equipped with a 400t portal crane.
Ballast/slop reception: Available.

Docking facilities: There are three floating docks:
No 1: 162m x 24m x 6.5m, accommodating 20,000dwt;
No 2: 227m x35m x 8.0m, accommodating 50,000dwt;
No 3: 252m x 41m x 9.7m, accommodating 115,000dwt.
